RALEIGH—On August 31, Congressman Wiley Nickel will participate in a ceremonial frame raising at Aspen Spring Senior Apartments in Raleigh with local and state officials. Aspen Spring will help address the shortage of affordable apartments in Wake County, where more than 49% of renters are cost-burdened, paying more than 30% of their income on rent.

Developed by Evergreen Construction of Raleigh, Aspen Spring was awarded funding by the NC Housing Finance Agency in 2020 to provide 84 apartment homes that are affordable for seniors on a fixed income. Aspen Spring has received financing from the City of Raleigh and Wake County as well.
“Congressman Nickel is a co-sponsor of the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act,” said Scott Farmer, executive director of the NC Housing Finance Agency. “This vital piece of legislation would create nearly two million additional affordable homes nationally, and we are grateful for Congressman Nickel’s support.”
